Summer Cycle Trip in "Kyoto by the Sea" (Beach in Kyoto)
In recent years, global environmental changes have led to prolonged periods of scorching heat during the summer. Kyoto City is no exception. Summers in Kyoto are humid and crowded, making it a challenging experience for travelers unaccustomed to Japan's climate. I've lived in Kyoto for 50 years, so I'm used to the weather, but when summer comes, I load my favorite electric bicycle into my car and head to Seaside Kyoto. The sea is a vibrant blue in summer, and I enjoy swimming at secluded beaches, eating seasonal fruit, having barbecues, and cooking and eating the fish I catch. It's the most enjoyable season of the year. In the hot summer, I want to relax in Seaside Kyoto, enjoying the countryside and cycling around the sea!
Note: This year, the standard Japanese summer vacation runs from August 8th to 16th. September 19th to 23rd is the long September holiday known as Silver Week. Please note that these periods are peak travel seasons for Japanese people, and there will be crowds and traffic jams in many areas.

Enjoy high-quality fruits in summer
Northern Kyoto Prefecture is known as a fruit-producing region. Kyotango City in particular is known for its climate, which is ideal for growing fruit. The city produces delicious, sweet, and top-quality seasonal fruits, such as melons, peaches, grapes, strawberries, pears, and watermelons, which are harvested and sold at local farm shops. Melons and peaches are in season in the summer.
Fireworks, a symbol of summer in Japan, light up the night sky with brilliant colors. Several fireworks events are held on the Tango Peninsula from July to August.

A peaceful old Japanese fishing village.
The Seaside Kyoto area is dotted with fishing towns that have continued since ancient times, and fishing boats of all sizes come and go from the harbor in the early morning and at dusk.Ine Town is also home to a series of very rare old buildings called “Funaya,” where the first floor of the house is used as a garage for boats.

This is a place where you can take your time and relax by cycling.
We also have an original map (Google My Maps) for enjoying cycling around Seaside Kyoto. We provide various local information, such as hidden spots along cool rivers, recommended restaurants in the summer, and secluded beaches.

Kyoto by the Sea, where traditional Japanese culture still remains.
Kyoto in particular has a strong tendency to preserve traditions, culture, and customs and pass them on to the next generation. Kyoto by the Sea has many places that still retain the appearance of the good old days of Japan.

The Tango Peninsula is a mecca for fishing
It’s too hot during the day to catch many fish, but in the early morning and evening, fish become active and you can catch more. You’ll come across many anglers while cycling along the coast. We also have cycling guides who are fishing enthusiasts, so we can lend you fishing gear if you request it.
